About Site Gallery

Site Gallery is Sheffield’s leading international contemporary art space, supporting artists specializing in moving image, new media, and performance. We connect people to art, inspiring new thinking through exhibitions, projects, public programs, and participatory activities. We aim to advance the role of art in society by working with local, regional, and international collaborators.

Project Overview

Funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, this 4-year project aims to nurture the creative talent of care-experienced young adults in Sheffield and foster a more inclusive cultural sector. The program, co-created and delivered with Sheffield City Council’s Voice and Influence Team, will support 30 young adults over four years, providing resources and opportunities to explore creative practices.

Role Description

Position: Participation Producer
Employer: Site Gallery Ltd, Sheffield, S1 2BS
Salary: £24,000 – £29,000 pro rata
Contract: Fixed term, 3.5 years, 3 days per week, flexible hours

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and deliver weekly creative sessions with participants at Site Gallery.
  2. Engage artists to lead workshops, supporting effective methodologies.
  3. Support participants in building confidence and developing new skills.
  4. Foster social networks among participants, promoting trust and openness.
  5. Create personalized Access and Engagement plans for each participant.
  6. Use trauma-informed practices to address issues and maintain boundaries.
  7. Act as a liaison between participants and the project team.
  8. Collaborate with Sheffield City Council’s Voice and Influence team.
  9. Maintain accurate records, collect data, and capture learning through various media.
  10. Contribute to the development of a toolkit for the creative industries.
  11. Prepare reports and share insights with stakeholders.
  12. Manage project budgets and maintain financial records.
  13. Support internal communications and share knowledge with the team.
  14. Develop and adhere to a project-specific Safeguarding Policy.
  15. Follow Site Gallery’s Equality, Code of Conduct, and Health and Safety policies.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds and designing arts participation projects. Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to create an empowering environment for young people are essential.
