Who Can Apply

Project Description FLOWING STREAMS, developed by EUNIC Romania, offers a unique opportunity for artists and practitioners to delve into the cultural ecology of water in rural Romania. This initiative is a collaboration among seven cultural institutions, including the British Council, Czech Centre, Embassy of the Netherlands, Goethe-Institut, Italian Institute for Culture, Polish Institute, and Fundația9. The project, curated by Adelina Luft, aims to foster meaningful collaborations and exchange of knowledge centered around water conservation and management practices.

Objectives and Activities Participants will immerse themselves in Romanian village life, exploring the specific context of water in each location, facilitated by a partnering organization. This engagement aims to explore local traditions, customs, and practices related to water, fostering a mutual exchange of knowledge and cultural insights. The residencies provide a platform for artists to engage with local communities, share experiences, and contribute to a sustainable ecological and cultural dialogue.

Situating Waters The project challenges traditional perceptions of water by emphasizing its social and cultural dimensions. It invites participants to consider water’s varied roles and meanings across different communities, highlighting the importance of local knowledge and practices in water management.
