Studio Museum in Harlem, New York (USA)

The Studio Museum in Harlem is seeking a Mellon Collection Fellow to assist with object research and acquisition documentation for the museum’s permanent collection. The Fellow will work under the supervision of the Registrar’s Office, supporting cataloging, documentation, and object management tasks. Responsibilities include updating data in the TMS Collections database, assisting with non-permanent collection inventory, and supporting curatorial research on exhibition history and provenance.

This one-year position offers emerging professionals hands-on experience in collection management, providing insight into key aspects of collection care, data management, and exhibition preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

Catalog artwork data in TMS and NetX, including installation, conservation, and rights information.
Assist with non-permanent collection inventory and update object locations.
Support curatorial research on provenance and exhibition history.
Maintain acquisition and loan files, ensuring compliance with archival policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
1–3 years of experience in a museum, gallery, or cultural institution.
Familiarity with TMS Collections, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation: $45,000 annually, with a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and life insurance, retirement account, and vacation time.
