Overview

The Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage, through the National Cultural Heritage Service, is seeking an Artistic Coordinator for the National Museum of Fine Arts in Santiago, Chile. This full-time contract position focuses on coordinating editorial and curatorial efforts for exhibitions and strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Coordination: Work closely with museum management to define and implement programs and projects that align with institutional goals. This includes overseeing the areas of curation, exhibitions, itinerancies, mediation, education, and design.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the artistic team, ensuring effective collaboration among staff in exhibitions, museography, editorial work, mediation, graphic design, and development projects.
  • Program Development: Propose and coordinate artistic programs that address all aspects of the museum’s exhibitions and their production stages.
  • Collection Development: Collaborate with the Heritage Management Unit to develop and propose projects for the growth, exhibition, and communication of the museum’s collections.
  • Inter-institutional Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with the visual arts sector and both public and private organizations, nationally and internationally. This includes promoting collaborative projects and fostering partnerships.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: A professional degree of at least 8 semesters, recognized by the Ministry of Education, is required. Degrees in Art History, Visual Arts, or Cultural Management are preferred.
  • Specialization/Training: Postgraduate studies in Cultural Management, Museography, or related fields. Advanced knowledge in leadership, project formulation, collection management, and Art History in Chile and Latin America is desirable.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in museums or related institutions, with a focus on research, team coordination, and exhibition management. International experience and experience in public institutions are valued.

Salary and Conditions

  • Gross Salary: 3,404,953 CLP per month, with additional bonuses paid quarterly. The position is for an initial period of 6 months, renewable based on performance.
