Overview
The Vilcek Foundation awards three $50,000 prizes each to young, immigrant visual artists and curators for outstanding early achievements. Applications are open until June 10, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements
- Born outside the United States to non-American parents.
- Under 38 years old.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in visual arts or curatorial work.
- At least 3 completed professional projects.
- Resided in the U.S. for at least 4 years.
- Hold specific valid immigration status.
Visual Arts
- Eligible practices: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, installation, film/video, digital art, and performance.
Curatorial Work
- Eligible practices: exhibitions in private/public institutions, foundations, independent practices, biennials, art fairs, galleries.
Benefits
- $50,000 unrestricted cash prize.

Application Process
- Provide personal information and immigration status.
- Submit a portfolio (3-5 projects) and a CV.
- Answer essay questions about significant projects, career goals, and immigration experience.
- Provide 2 references.
- Complete the application by June 10, 2024, 5:00 pm ET.
Selection Process
A jury of experts will evaluate based on contributions to visual arts and curatorial work. Final approval is by the Vilcek Foundation’s Board of Directors. Winners will be notified in September 2024 and invited to an event in New York City in Spring 2025.
