Artistic Production Grants

The VIA Art Fund awards Artistic Production Grants twice a year. These grants support new artistic commissions outside of museum or gallery spaces. They are available to individual artists, nonprofit organizations, and institutions. Grants range from $25,000 to $100,000 per project.

Eligibility Criteria

• Eligible participants include artists, nonprofit organizations, cultural institutions, art production platforms, and event organizers like biennials or festivals.
• The fund specifically supports high-impact artistic commissions in nontraditional venues and public spaces.
• Applicants must have a confirmed artist and exhibition venue detailed in their Letter of Inquiry (LOI).
• Both US-based and international artists are eligible; however, international projects must occur in the US and involve US artists.
• Organizations must prove nonprofit status and adhere to specific application timelines as detailed on the VIA Art Fund website.

Grant Application Process

Step 1: Letter of Inquiry

Eligible candidates can submit an LOI during the Fall or Spring cycles.

Step 2: Full Application

Selected projects from the LOI stage are invited to submit a detailed application.

Step 3: Review

Applications undergo a thorough review by VIA staff and partners.

Step 4: Decision

Final decisions are made democratically at VIA Partners’ semi-annual meetings. Notifications and fund dispersals follow shortly after these meetings.
